GALLERY> Autocon At Santa Anita Racetrack

This weekend's Autocon event at Santa Anita Racetrack was hot. Super hot. There were lots of other car events happening in other parts of the west coast, but it seemed as if most people naturally just flocked to Autocon, because it's a new event series that's gaining some good momentum. It was initially started as a smaller car gathering in Southern Cali's City of Industry, but it has seen quite a bit of growth recently. I even saw some of the core team from the old Hot Import Nights (the crew that was behind HIN when it was strongest) and Global Time Attack behind the scenes this weekend.

I've been traveling out of state for the past few weeks, but I decided to fly back to Los Angeles for this weekend's event - it was the perfect chance to enjoy summertime in Southern Cali, spend time with good friends, and finally check out Autocon in person.   Read more...

SHOPAHOLIC> Street Party At The Flagship Society

This has been one hectic weekend - it's as if the Southern Cali car events just don't stop, even on the motorsports off-season! This was a weekend of Christmas Parties and get togethers with good friends, but it was also a weekend of really bad weather in Los Angeles - with lots of rain causing car crashes for non-rain trained drivers. It was hydroplane city out there on Southern California freeways, but it still didn't stop people from coming out and packing the hell out of the Flagship Society grand opening event last night!

This was only the first official party held at Flagship Society, but when people heard through the grapevine that L-Con founder/fabricator Louie Contreras was working on organizing an event, everyone knew that they better not miss it!

There were lots of people in attendance, so it was pretty tough to find parking outside the shop. There were tons of fresh cars on the streets lining the shop, but it was raining so hard, people weren't really hanging out by the cars. Instead, everyone was having fun inside the shop itself with DJ A1 in the mix, getting everyone to bop their heads and groove as they walked around and checked out the shop with friends. Our good friends from the ItsJDMyo! Blog had a table inside the event, passing out posters, with a bunch of scantily clad Vietnamese coffee shop girls smiling for pictures... and sometimes not.   Read more...

COVERAGE> NWP4Life’s Honda Meet at Eibach

Yesterday, at NWP4Life's annual Eibach Springs Honda Meet, thousands of enthusiasts gathered to share the love of their favorite automaker. This event gets larger every year and always draws record crowds. The Eibach parking lot may only hold 600 or so cars, but the meet pretty much extends for a mile outside of it, where the cars are almost all exclusively Hondas! This is my fourth year attending this meet, and each year I am surprised by what I see. Many people choose the Eibach meet to "debut" something new on their car. I know people who have repainted their cars and changed up their entire car just for this meet. As with previous years, the cars and modifications range from clean & simple to outrageous and just downright unnecessary. By following the best cars from this meet, it is easy to spot what will be popular and "trendy" for the next couple of years.   Read more...
