Endurance racing has always been about how hard and how long you can go. For almost a century, legendary races like Le Mans, Sebring, and Daytona have made history as a proving ground for men and their machines. The Streets of Long Beach circuit brought a similar challenge to the cars and stars of the
American LeMans Series (ALMS) on Saturday Afternoon.
In just two hours, 157 miles would be traveled and 36.329 seconds would separate an endurance racing champion from a former Formula One star - and with the win, produce the
winning-est driver in American LeMans series history - a man who only turned a wheel for 25 minutes.

Seeing the MasterMind Odyvia for the first time at our
MotorMavens Mass Appeal Show in
Irwindale, CA was a mind-blowing experience. Hearing the car start up for the first time left my ears ringing for hours. However, rather than just telling tell you why I fell in love with this car, I thought I should tell you how this car came to life instead. Please fasten your seat belts, this ride is about to get CRAZY.
You're probably asking yourself, what is an Odyvia? In case you didn't know, it's when you combine Honda Odyssey headlights with a 1991 Nissan 240SX (S13 Silvia) body. Hence, the name ODYVIA...I find it rather fitting for the car - the name sounds like it was plucked from an epic poem like
The Iliad.
The reason I felt so passionate about this particular car wasn't the one-off
Spirit Rei Japan widebody kit, custom fabrication, custom interior, nor the
Z06 LS7 motor swap. It was because
it took incredible persistence and attention to detail to accomplish - this project was riddled with issues that would make an average mechanic lose his mind.

A few years ago, the term "royal flush" wouldn't make you immediately think of cars. Rather then picturing a car's wheel fitment and ride height, it was more associated with card games. However, with wheels right at the fenders, tires tucking underneath them, and frame rails sitting only a few inches above the tarmac,
this
Subaru Impreza WRX STi owned by
Austin Mardian from the
Royal Flush Crew really embodies what it means to have your car
sit flush.
When Austin rolls out to car meets and shows, he and his friends from Royal Flush crew definitely roll deep, with more than enough slammed cars to back up the name. For those of you local to Southern California that have been to many of the larger car shows, you might have seen several of the Royal Flush "VIP" style cars. Whether it's a Lexus or Infiniti on air ride or Austin's STi, they mob out in big numbers to all of the events they go to. While some of the cars in the crew scream for attention, the clean subtle look to Austin's STi was actually what caught my eye when I saw his car for the first time.

There is probably no better way to introduce myself to you guys than by sharing with you, on
86 Day, a recent shoot I did of a friend's
Toyota AE86 Levin GTV. As
Daniel Bridle has shown you with the
Team Tekno article, the AE86 is alive and well here in
Ireland!
Usually the AE86 comes in two different guises: the Japanese drift spec with drift body kits and crazy camber; and the UK spec with
Superlites and
Cibie spot lamps. However, there is another type that is rarely seen on these shores and that is - the grip spec AE86.

Scotland - a country that's home to some of the freshest street cars that I've seen in person since I've been shooting for
MotorMavens. You may remember awhile back I did a feature (which you can check out
here) on a crew of sweet drift cars in Scotland's capital city of
Edinburgh.
Well, once again, I happened to be in the land of the rising Haggis (click
here if you're unfamiliar with Haggis), and thought it would be cool to catch up with some of the guys and see how their cars were getting on! I hope you enjoy the dramatic "black and white" theme - it seemed to go so well with the cars and the scenery of Edinburgh.

Building a car from the ground up isn't an easy task to do - physically or mentally. Some might already know exactly what they want to do, while others may have a general idea and focus on one thing at a time. Plans always change (which is the exact reason why my S14 has been sitting for over a year) but one thing that all these owners have in common is...Dedication.
This
Datsun 510 project was started 13 years (and three owners) ago. The original owner (Joe Smith - sounds like an alias), had the body and paint done. He also accumulated a lot of NOS (new old stock) parts though the Nissan dealer he worked for but the car was never finished. Eventually the car ended up seeing two other owners before
Dom Stokes bought it.

One day this week while I was organizing my photos from this past weekend's Nisei Showoff carshow in Little Tokyo, my homie Matt came over and showed me this link to a forum post that included some photos that car owners took at Nisei. It was funny, because normally when I chill with Matt and his girlfriend Joyce, we only talk about which dope grub spots we should hit up next time we kick it (They love us on Yelp! LOL
Add me if you want) and going to Japan. The first time I met Matt and Joyce, it was at the
Boiling Crab in SGV, and then in line for
Kogi in Little Tokyo for crying out loud! So thanks to the homie Matt, I was able to find these
pretty dope Nisei Showoff photos from Hasback Photography.
So as I finish organizing my own photos of the 2009 Nisei Showoff Grand Finale and prepare them for posting (I should have like 3 more posts to make on the last Nisei Showoff), I thought I should shine some light on these photos, which were taken by a non-pro photographer that I don't even know. Good work Hasback! Now on to the pics...
