GALLERY> McLaren Beverly Hills and The MP4-12C

Just a typical weeknight in Los Angeles... I received an invite to a special party that The McLaren Group was throwing to celebrate the opening of their newest showroom. McLaren Beverly Hills is situated on some prime real estate; it's on Wilshire Blvd next to The Auto Gallery, only blocks away from the high end boutique shops on Rodeo Drive.

With red carpets and media walls lining the sidewalk leading up to the building, McLaren's newest supercar was undoubtedly the belle of the ball. Invited guests were given the chance to get up close and personal with the 592 brake horsepower McLaren MP4-12C; a car that just about anyone can drive home at the bargain price of $229,999.   Read more...

COVERAGE> Historic Rallycars at RMS in N. Ireland

ReallyMeanSounds.com (or RMS) is a local motoring forum here in Northern Ireland. The site was set up by Andy Cooper many moons ago to showcase ICE installations but, as the popularity of the forum grew, it became one of most popular motoring forums in Ireland. I have been a member since late 2006 when I was losing heart with my rallying exploits and RMS was just the fix I needed.

WEBMINING> Rally Finland Citroën C4

With all this excellent coverage of sideways hoonage on Motor Mavens recently, I thought we could use a little dose of vertical shenanigans. Here’s a clip of Russian rallyer Evgeny Novikov taking his Citroën C4 to the very limit, and perhaps a little beyond, of its designed purpose.

Props to the roadside photographers and their balls of steel, although I must chuckle a little at the guy in the video and his missed opportunity at what would’ve been an amazing shot. Remember to always be ready for that money shot, but don’t forget to have an exit strategy too!

WEBMINING> This Is Rallying

An amazing tribute to an amazing motorsport. I cannot stop watching this video. I can’t even begin to fathom the amount of footage that went into this… and could it be edited any better? This video and it’s soundtrack just feel like a match made in heaven. I hope you all enjoy this as much as I did. Hats off to ‘Miika’ for creating this gem.

WEBMINING> Crank and Piston

Shortly after opening up the MotorMavens Twitter account (Follow us on Twitter!), we learned of a really great site called CrankAndPiston.com. Based in the Middle East, the site owner Phil McGovern has assembled a great crew of writers and photographers.   Read more...
