When I first met
Aurimas “Odi” Bakchis, it was at a local grassroots event. From the first time I met him until now, I’d say he’s still one of the most down-to-earth guys you’ll ever meet. However, that’s hardly the description I’d give him when he’s on the track. On the track, I'd say Odi is a menace. With only two years of drifting experience, Odi entered professional competition in 2011 and earned his professional license in 2010 through the
Top Drift Pro Am and
Vegas Drift Pro Am series.

The week of
SEMA 2011 was one of the most fun and exhausting weeks I've ever had. Between exploring the show floor to scout cars and meet new people,
live blog updates on the MotorMavens Instagram channel, and attending all the after parties... SEMA was one hell of an adventure. Since it was my first time at SEMA, I wanted to take full charge of covering everything I could. It was definitely not an easy task to take on - even with some help from my friend
Terry Pham from
DSTROYR,who helped me scout some cool cars.

MotorMavens | TANDEM OF DIE | Formula Drift Palm Beach from MotorMavens Dotcom on Vimeo.
During Formula Drift‘s first Florida event last weekend, there were many bobbles, a few spins, and even a couple of wrecks. The new layout on Palm Beach International Raceway proved to be a challenge for drivers, event organizers, and media personnel alike. The slippery track was slightly technical, with a high speed and high angle entry, and rounded off with a smoky finish. (more…)

For the first time
Formula DRIFT history, the war was brought to the battlegrounds in
Florida at the
Palm Beach International Raceway (PBIR). Locals got to witness a "Battle of the Mustangs" as
Justin "JTP" Pawlak took another victory this year in his
Falken Tires Ford Mustang against last year's champion,
Vaughn Gittin, Jr. and his
Monster Energy/Falken Tires Ford Mustang.
Darren McNamara (who qualified 2nd) and his Falken Tire
Saturn Sky ended up in 3rd place after defeating number one qualifier
Chris Forsberg and his
NOS Energy Drink Nissan 370Z. Florida was very very good to Falken Tires! In fact, Florida was very good - period.

If you dont know who
Walker Wilkerson is by now - you will soon enough. From seemingly out of nowhere, he showed up to the first event of the 2011 Formula Drift season and had an incredibly strong showing. Walker outscored many Formula D veterans in qualifying, moving forward to wow the crowd with exciting tandem performances, much like fan favorite
Fredric Aasbo did with his JZA80 Supra last year.
With limited seat time he wowed the judges in his purple widebody
Nissan S13 240SX coupe, equipped with a
stroked 480hp monster
SR20DET, during qualifying. Eventually landing high at 7th place, deep within veteran territory. And with that explosive entrance in the pro arena - he secured his spot in the big show on Saturday in the Top 32. Not bad for a first timer in, well, pretty much everything for the day.
