VIDEO> Nikolay’s RBS13 Burnout at FD Vegas

AWFILMS | RAW LAS VEGAS | Shreeve Gets Wild! from Abbitt Wilkerson on Vimeo.

The heat of Las Vegas can make people do some crazy things. It makes some people stay out all night, drinking beer with new friends that they just met until 10AM, ensuring that they won’t have enough sleep to function as a normal human being at the actual Formula D Las Vegas event… and it makes some people stick their faces behindĀ 180SX drift cars as they do burnouts in line for drifting practice.

Here’s our vote for the best looking S13 in the entire Formula Drift series… Nikolay Konstantinov‘s RB-powered RPS13, as seen through the lens of Abbitt Wilkerson as Justin Shreeve clowns around behind the car…

(Hey Abbitt… where’s that logo bumper?)

COVERAGE> JDM Allstars Rd.2 – Donington Alpine!

When I first heard that JDM Allstars was coming to Donington Park for Round 2 of the championship, I was a little confused as to where the event would be held. Would it be on the actual race circuit? Since it's currently under reconstruction, any idea of that went out the window. Would it be on the large plot of land off to the side of the track known as the "Launch Pad"? Well, since two other drift series have used that area in the past, it didn't seem to fit JDM's approach which usually involves coming up with fresh and exciting course designs.

I later heard that the plan was to hold it on something called the Donington Alpine Circuit. I had no clue what that was until I came along to the shoot of the promotional video a few weeks back. Then it all became clear. On the outskirts of the main track and the Launch Pad is a fast, wide, almost mountain road-like track that the JDM Crew decided to use. It's made up of four corners and a steep uphill straight where the cars seemingly come out of nowhere and fly over the top. There's a right transition into the second turn, aiming for a clipping point close to the deadly armco, then a transition left into the third turn where you plant the throttle and bring the rear of the car to the armco on the straight, leading to another transition right into the final hairpin turn.

Fast corners, armco barriers on all sides and beautiful scenery all around. This was looking to be one of the most unique and exciting drift events in the JDM Allstars calendar.   Read more...

WEBMINING> Miniz SR20 & RB26 Trucks Drifting!

We received this link from one of our loyal readers, Shakotan Oscar. Thank you Oscar! We just love the internet for reasons like this. We just posted up some photos that demo car builder David Huang found of Garage Miniz in Japan… and shortly after, we received a video link from Oscar that shows more detail in both trucks!

I especially like the awesome rear mounted radiator in the white RB26 powered one! Not to mention its stance and the incredibly detailed fuel setup in the bed of the truck. Well, both trucks are incredible, but damn… that white one! Aside from me, who else is now interested in building a truck?! Garage Miniz shows the possibilities…

WEBMINING> Garage Miniz

I received this link from a good friend of the MotorMavens, David Huang. Apparently, David was shopping for parts in Japan again, when he came across the Garage Miniz site and linked it to me. AWESOME!

Have you ever seen a Nissan hardbody pickup truck that looked this good?! To be very honest, I'm not normally a fan of using "car wheels" on lowered trucks... but damn, there's just something about this truck that makes my jaw drop! It might have something to do with the fact that it's slammed to the ground with big Work Emotion CR Kai wheels filling up the fenders. What a great location for a photo shoot, too. That's the Fuji TV building in Odaiba, right next to the Tokyo waterfront.   Read more...
