Shelby Cobra, Shelby Daytona, LA Auto Show

It’s that time of the year again! The 2012 edition of the annual LA Auto Show is here, and automotive enthusiasts will be flocking to the LA Convention Center to see all the new makes and models from the world’s leading car manufacturers, along with some special historic vehicles on display that showcase the heritage of some of the bigger automakers!

You’ll find most of the displays in the LA Convention Center’s South and West halls, but don’t forget to check out the Concourse Hall, which features some interesting displays from Aston Martin, Shelby, Lotus, Morgan, Callaway, and Saleen. There were several awesome cars to check out in the Concourse Hall, but this original Shelby Daytona Coupe just looked so dramatic under the spotlights…

Not too far from the Shelby Daytona Coupe was this brand new Shelby GT500 Mustang. This looks like a beast! I’d love to test drive one!

Acura NSX New 2013 Concept 2014 LA Auto Show 2012 LA Convention Center

In the Acura booth in the South Hall, the new NSX concept has got to be the most attractive, most photographed vehicle. You absolutely MUST see this thing up close.

The NSX concept looks incredible. Although Acura is keeping most of the vehicle’s details under wraps, the new NSX will employ a lightweight chassis, a mid-mounted V-6 engine and Acura’s innovative new Sport Hybrid SH-AWD (Super Handling All Wheel Drive) system. The new supercar will come to market within three years.

Honda plans to produce the new NSX supercar near its current auto production operations in central Ohio at a unique, advanced manufacturing operation, even though the original Acura NSX was built at Honda plants in Japan from 1990 to 2005.

Audi A7 TDI LA Auto Show 2012 LA Convention Center

Even though the Acura NSX was drawing a lot of attention, the Audi booth is actually the first thing most people are drawn to upon entering the South Hall. Audi looks distinctive because of its cool bluish-white lighting, which perfectly shines on its 2013 lineup, which includes several TDI models in the Audi lineup, like this new A7.

Although many were interested in the new TDI cars in the fleet, they weren’t the only models in the Audi booth that might draw a person’s attention.

The Dodge and Jeep booths also had some interesting attractions!

Scion AV LA Auto Show 2012 LA Convention Center

Scion had a cool interactive display, showing off all their newest cars… especially their new front engine, rear wheel drive sports car, the Scion FR-S. On the huge wall, I noticed that Scion was encouraging people to connect to their brand on the most popular new social network (Instagram) rather than driving traffic to their own website. This is the type of forward-thinking that I’ve come to expect from brands that get it like Scion… but I’m pretty sure that the majority of other automakers aren’t on this wavelength yet. Not to worry, they’ll get there in a few years.

Check out the new Volvo S60. Gorgeous.

Elizabeth Taylor Lincoln Continental LA Auto Show 2012 LA Convention Center

Speaking of gorgeous, the Lincoln booth had several heritage cars on display to celebrate the brand’s prestigious history. They even had Elizabeth Taylor‘s own Lincoln Continental on display at their booth! You NEED to see this car in person. This photo doesn’t do it justice!

We’ll have more updates from the LA Auto Show very soon. Those who have been following @MOTORMAVENS on Instagram have already been treated to photos from the Media Preview Day, as we were posting on Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, and Facebook since yesterday morning!

  1. @Mango and Mike: Hmm… it makes me want to try out the 2013 and 2012 Civics side by side now. I never requested to test drive a 2012 Civic because it never really interested me… but now I want to compare them both! I’m glad Honda made some changes to the Civic, and hope the new 2013 one gets better reviews! We’ll just have to see!
